The Rolfing Ten Series
The Rolfing Ten series is an organized "recipe" in which each session feeds off of the other for optimal balance and order within the body's structure. It offers a beginning and an end to receiving body work. The process of the series works as an educational experience for each client; An opportunity to receive body work over a period of 2 or so months, in a way that helps you feel into the relationships that exist within the body, and get a sense of how ones body moves and functions as a unit.
Below is a brief description of each session, their goals and territory worked.

Session 1
Is about creating space—space to breathe deeply, space to move freely, and space to align.
Session 2
We focus on the lower body, with a special emphasis on your feet, legs, and pelvis. By releasing tension in the feet and improving their connection to the rest of your body, we create a stronger, more stable foundation.
Session 3
Finding length up the sides of the body. We work on understanding how the head, shoulder girdle and hips are related and function between one another. Improving flexibility and fluid movement when you bend or twist.
Session 4
Creating length and stability from the arch of the foot to the pelvic floor to offer more bilateral support.
Session 5
The abdominal / deep abdominal cavity session. We “awaken” the tissues of the deep psoas and feel into how out legs can be related to and move from the deep abdominal tissues. You can't open the back with out opening the front first.
Session 6
We work to improve the natural curves of the spine, allowing for better alignment and movement patterns.
Session 7
We explore how the head balances on the body and address any tension within the cranium. Creating space, ease and comfort within the head and neck.
Session 8 & 9
All about integration. We will touch up on what needs to be addressed a bit more in order for the shifts and changes to feel like second nature. These two sessions can look different for everybody and are determined by the practitioner based off of what is needed for the individual.
Session 10
We will touch over the whole body and incorperate lots of movement. The main goal for this last session is to inspire a sense of order, balance and confidence throughout the body.
How a session may look:
-
Chat about your body's history: accidents, broken bones, surgeries etc.
-
Standing / walking assessments to orient and feel what is.
-
Briefly go over the best plan based off of your goals or expectations for sessions.
-
60 minutes of hands on tissue manipulation.
-
Little to no lotions or oils used in order to contact the different layers of tissue.
-
Clients are engaged, clothed and often being called for movement while giving feedback on sensations felt and/or what they might be noticing.
-
-
Closing 10/15 minutes used for reassessments and movement to feel how things may have shifted.
-
I often leave clients with "homework" or small pieces to be mindful of or incorporate in their day until our next session.
